Jo Denham
Jo was an amazing child dancer, winning All England Dancer of the Year, and several other prestigious dance and choreographic awards including Paul Clarke Memorial Award, Stella Mann Bursary, The John Field Award and the English Ballet Championships. At 16 years of age she went to the Royal Ballet School and appeared with the Royal Ballet Company at the Birmingham Hippodrome and Covent Garden . She also studied Jazz and other commercial styles of dance at London Studio Centre. Sadly injury terminated what would have undoubtedly have been a glittering career. However, Jo had another string to her bow – choreography and teaching and has since founded a Youth Dance Company in London and is in great demand throughout the country – teaching for the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain and of course at Allesley School of Dance.
Jo says, “The kids at Allesley School of Dance are great, it is a privilege to work with children who want to learn rather than those who are forced to. Since teaching here I have been made to feel very welcome by everyone involved. I am thoroughly enjoying working with everyone both from a teaching and choreographic perspective. The school is a credit to June Pughe who deserves all the success it brings her! |
