Dancer of the Month August

Samantha Hackleton

Samantha has been a pupil of the Allesley School of Dance since the age of two. She has trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Musical Theatre and Singing and has performed in many of the school's shows and festivals.

Samantha successfully auditioned for the last five professional pantomimes at the Belgrade Theatre and Warwick Arts Centre in Coventry and also appeared at the Millennium Dome.

Samantha has also been a member of the Coventry Youth Operetta Group for the last four years and during this time she played a principal role in their production of Anything Goes. In 2002 she won a National Tap award at the BBO Concourse in London .

At a recent production of Les Miserables in Concert at the Birmingham Conservatoire she was delighted to be cast in the main ensemble and was the understudy for the adult Cosette.

Samantha was selected by Pete Waterman for his ‘Songs of Praise Christmas Special' which was recorded at Coventry Cathedral and broadcast on BBC TV last Christmas.

In April 2003 she was featured as a soloist at the Birmingham Symphony Hall together with West End Star Claire Moore, and TV personalities Ronnie Corbett and John Savident (Corrie's Fred Elliot).

Samantha is about to take the next step in her career, having been awarded a three year fully funded scholarship to Laine Theatre Arts. Although she will miss all her friends and teachers she is very excited about pursuing her life-long dream in the theatre

She is eternally grateful to her family and to the Allesley School of Dance for all their help and support over the years.
