Dancer of the Month March & April

Louise Middleton

Hello everyone - my name is Louise Middleton and I have been with Allesley School of Dance for 2 year and have enjoyed every minute of it. I am 15 and have been dancing for 13 years. I moved to Rugby from Doncaster in January 2002. I used to dance with Catherine Sheppard School of Dance and it was really upsetting to leave. I went to a dance school in Rugby for a year but realised I needed a teacher that would push me a bit more and was pointed in the direction of Allesley by Faye Lindsey. It felt so good to have a teacher with high standards again and it didn't take long to settle in and become one of the girls.

I have currently studied for my GCSE's at Harris School in Rugby . I have finished all my exams all I can do now is wait until the 25 th of august. My options for GCSE were Dance, P.E and Drama. I love these subjects and am expected good grades in them all. Other than dancing, sport plays a big part in my life. I am sports captain at school and take responsibility for the main extra-curricular activities and help with younger students. I love to play basketball and have represented the county with my school. Also I love to play netball; I have played netball against Lauren Robinson a few times which were always eventful matches.

In September I have been offered a place at Warwickshire College in Henley in Arden to do Sports Development and Fitness. Hopefully I will obtain a National Diploma to enable me to train to become a Sports Teacher, but before I do that I intend to apply to the stage schools in London to pursue my dream of becoming a professional performer. I realise it is hard to get offered a place that is affordable so I thought I had better cover all options.

The 50 th anniversary show was my first with Allesley and will remember it forever. I am so grateful that I was featured in the show playing the part as the “Wicked Witch of the West” in the Wizard of Oz. The gorgeous costumes for the dance (made by Chris Devoil) not only looked stunning on stage but helped me and the other girls get into character, plus I loved being green.

I have been to the last two BBO “Dance Days” at White Lodge and they have been very positive experiences for me, learning from such prestigious teachers. As well as having great fun with all the girls and Sam and Liam.

Most of us at “Dance Days 2005”

I love performing and have loved competing in festivals ever since I was in the baby ballet section. I had solos, duets, trio and have done troupes. The last festival I did in Boston I won three trophies for most promising dancer, runner up in groups C/D and best vocal, which I was very happy to accept. My favourite solo had to be song and dance which was 'A Whole New World' from Aladdin. I love Musical Theatre and have had singing lessons to improve my voice and now have Lizzie to push me even more.

My first Ballet exam with IDTA

My sister, a friend (Lynz) and me in Planet Hollywood, in Downtown Disney in Florida on my 15 th birthday in VIP seats. We were doing YMCA in the middle of our fab meal! What a good night!

On the 15 th of July I took my intermediate tap exam, it has been hard yet fun and hopefully all the extra time Lizzie has put in for us will pay off. I'd like to wish everyone who has taken exams soon the best of luck with there results.

While at Allesley I have improved immensely in jazz, tap and especially ballet. This is thanks to the hard work of Lizzie, Jo and Mrs Pughe. I have another two years here and I hope that I hit the standard for stage school.

Hello and thank you to all of my friends at Allesley I wouldn't have settled in if it weren't for everyone being so friendly and always putting a smile on my face and most of all thank you Mrs Pughe.
