Dancer of the Month March & April

Emily Eaves

I began formal dance training with Mrs Pughe at the relatively late age of 12 and it has been hard work catching up with my peers and learning so much in a short time but I have relished every minute of it.

Six years on I have secured funding and am going to Arts Ed Theatre School in London to pursue my dreams of having a career in the performing arts.

I appreciate all types of dancing including ballet, tap and musical theatre and have aspirations to perform in West-End Theatre. I particularly enjoy jazz and street jazz and would love to dance in music videos. I have also studied singing and I am hugely grateful to Lizzie as she has given me considerable confidence and has spent huge amount of time preparing my performances for auditions and shows. In the last year I have also been fortunate to have found such an inspiring acting coach – Anne Mulraine, who has made me so enthusiastic and excited about acting. Together we have put together a varied portfolio of monologues and I have studied various types of acting. I am absolutely determined to make acting a huge part of my career, as I am so passionate about it.

I have done several shows with YOG, but my favourite performance was last February when I appeared in the Allesley Festival Showcase at the Spa Centre in Leamington. I was in several dances and was featured as a murderess in ‘The Cell Block Tango' from Chicago. It was a great experience and one in which I was able to use my dancing, singing and acting using my native Polish language!!

I would like to give no end of thanks to Mrs Pughe and Lizzie Pearce for sharing their knowledge with me and for their patience and understanding. Thank you also for having faith in me and for those incredible dance lessons over the last six years, and to Ann who has made me appreciate the qualities of drama. You have all helped and inspired me to get where I am today and I am very grateful.
